Invisalign Treatment Options Tailored
to Your Smile and Schedule

Because every smile starts in a different place, our practice offers more than one Invisalign pathway. Dr. John M. Pinnix IV and Dr. George A. Betancourt treat patients ages 15 and up, and can recommend the option that best fits your alignment goals, your case complexity, and your timeline.

Traditional Invisalign

Built for comprehensive cases, traditional Invisalign uses a custom series of clear aligners to gradually shift teeth into their planned position.

  • Designed to address a full range of mild to moderate alignment concerns
  • Typically completed in 12 to 18 months
  • Aligners are swapped about every two weeks for steady, predictable movement
  • Includes routine progress check-ins at our Charlotte office

Invisalign Express

Invisalign Express is a focused option for patients with milder concerns who want a faster, more targeted experience.

  • Ideal for minor crowding, small spacing issues, or post-orthodontic relapse
  • Uses fewer aligners than traditional Invisalign
  • Treatment is generally completed in three to six months
  • A strong fit for adults seeking a refined finish, not full orthodontic correction

A Straighter Smile That Fits Your Budget

Invisalign is generally comparable in cost to traditional orthodontic treatment, with the final investment shaped by case complexity rather than the aligner system itself. Our team will share a clear, individualized estimate during your consultation so the path forward is easy to plan around.

See a Beautiful Transformation Made Possible With Invisalign

Before treatment, this patient’s teeth were overcrowded and rotated at the wrong angles. Invisalign was the first step in a comprehensive smile makeover designed by Dr. Pinnix to straighten the smile and create a balanced, natural-looking finish.

Invisalign Can Also Improve
Your Oral Health

While Invisalign is best known as a cosmetic treatment, properly aligned teeth often deliver real, long-term benefits to oral health. When teeth are spaced and angled correctly, brushing and flossing become more effective, which can reduce the risk of decay and gum disease over time. A balanced bite also distributes chewing forces more evenly, helping to limit excessive wear on tooth enamel and easing strain that can contribute to TMJ discomfort and tension headaches.

You Don’t Need an Orthodontist for a Straighter Smile

Visit Our Experienced Dentists for Orthodontic Care

You don't have to look all around town for a qualified orthodontist if you want a straighter, more attractive smile. Our experienced dentists have helped many patients throughout Ballantyne, Gastonia, and greater Charlotte, NC, with Invisalign treatment plans, and it's likely they can help you, too.

Save yourself the time and stress of finding a brand-new practitioner. Turn to Drs. Pinnix and Betancourt instead. We can't wait to show you what's possible for your smile.

Understanding Invisalign Candidacy and How Attachments Can Help

Typically, Invisalign is most successful in treating mild to moderate orthodontic issues. For extremely complex misalignment, our dentists may recommend braces. However, for certain patients, Invisalign attachments can make treatment possible when it otherwise wouldn't be an option.

Invisalign attachments are very small "bumps" of tooth-colored composite resin that are bonded onto the front surfaces of the teeth at the beginning of treatment. They strengthen the hold that the aligner has on the teeth, allowing it to exert greater force and achieve movement.

We'll be sure to check if Invisalign attachments can make a difference for you during your consultation at our Charlotte, NC, practice. Dr. Pinnix or Dr. Betancourt will examine your teeth and take digital impressions of your smile to determine if Invisalign will be an effective orthodontic treatment.

Your Invisalign Treatment Timeline

Invisalign treatment usually takes 12 to 18 months to complete, but some patients can begin to see a noticeable difference in just a few months.
Invisalign treatment usually takes 12 to 18 months to complete, but some patients can begin to see a noticeable difference in just a few months.

Consultation

Your first visit centers on a comprehensive evaluation and a 3D digital scan of your teeth. Using these scans, our team builds a precise treatment plan and shares an estimated timeline before any aligners are produced.

Daily Use

Once your custom aligners arrive, you will wear them 20 to 22 hours per day, removing them only to eat, drink anything other than water, brush, and floss. Some mild pressure during the first few days of each new tray is normal and signals that the aligners are working.

Progression

About every two weeks, you will switch to the next aligner in the series. Periodic check-ins at our Charlotte office, typically every six weeks, allow our team to monitor movement and confirm that your teeth are tracking with the plan.

Maintenance

After your final aligner, a retainer is essential to keep your teeth in their new position. Our doctors will discuss retainer options and, when appropriate, complementary treatments such as professional whitening to refine your finished smile.

“My wife and I have high regard for the competence and skill of all the employees in this dental office. I am impressed with the professionalism and competence of this group.”

Frequently Asked Questions
About Invisalign

Does Invisalign treatment hurt?

Most patients describe a mild pressure sensation during the first one to three days of each new aligner. Discomfort is generally less than what is typical with a braces tightening, will only last a few days, and can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers.

Can I really eat whatever I want during treatment?

Yes. Aligners are removable, so you can eat and drink as you normally would. Just put your aligners somewhere safe during meals, brush thoroughly afterward, and pop them back in.

What happens if I miss a day of wearing my aligners?

Occasional lapses are not catastrophic, but consistent under-wear will slow progress and can extend your overall timeline. Treat each missed day as a day to make up, and aim for the full 20 to 22 hours daily as consistently as possible.

Do I really need to wear a retainer after Invisalign?

Yes. Even after treatment ends, the bones and soft tissues around your teeth need time to stabilize. Wearing your retainer as directed protects your investment and keeps your results stable for the long term.

Are you sure I don’t need to see an orthodontist?

Invisalign is an innovative system provided by orthodontists and dentists alike. By choosing our Charlotte practice, you can enjoy continuity of care from a team that offers a comprehensive range of services, with no need to coordinate across multiple offices.
